All is quiet at the Metrodome

With the Twins on the road for the rest of this week it has been pretty quiet at the Metrodome this week. The Twins will return home in early July for a 10 day run at home, with a game on July 4th against Detroit the Metrodome sounds like a great place to spend Independence day and how fitting to be wearing red, white and blue jerseys.

Other games coming up at the Metrodome are:
Fri June 27, Amateur Baseball
Fri July 3- Sun July 5, Twins vs. Detriot
Tues July 7- Thurs July 9, Twins vs. New York
Fri July 10- Sun July 12, Twins vs. Chicago

Metrodome Food All the Rage

One of the hottest searches (believe it or not) is Metrodome Food – just look at my sidebar and the list of blog visitors and how they got here for proof. I am sure it has a lot to do with the infamous “Dome Dog” which I wish I was eating RIGHT NOW as the Twins are hosting the Pittsburgh Pirates at the Dome in an afternoon contest.

I think the popularity of the search also has to do with the Minnesota Twins All You Can Eat game food/ticket packages. Local bloggers like this Minnesota Twins fan blogger have recently been talking about the all you can eat Metrodome experience. Plus, there have been on-line discussions about what to call a hot dog at Target Field? So far the best suggestion is a “Bullseye Dog.”

Metrodome to lose millions as Gophers and Twins open new stadiums

The Metrodome made the news recently and not just as the Home Sweet Dome for the Minnesota Twins baseball team.

The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission, who manage the Metrodome Minneapolis, have been looking over financial numbers that show the Dome will lose an average of $2 million a year once the Twins and the Gophers have left the Metrodome for their new stadiums.

That’s a startling statistic and the MSFC is scrambling for ways to keep the Metrodome alive including cutting expenses, attracting new events and keeping the Minnesota Vikings.

"Nothing pays the freight like the Vikings," the MSFC said. "You take that out and the Dome's no longer viable."

I smell another push at building a new Vikings stadium on the Metrodome site!
