TwinsFest 2012 Concludes at Dome

The Minnesota Twins wrapped up TwinsFest 2012 at their old home in downtown Minneapolis. After an estimated 30,000 fans attended the event over three days at the Dome, the Minnesota Twins will now be looking to Spring Training.

This year marked the event's return to the Metrodome, after it was held at the National Sports Center Blaine because the Dome's roof collapsed as a result of heavy snow in December 2010.

More than 60 former, current and future Twins players were at the Metrodome to meet with fans, pose for pictures and sign for autographs.

What is in store for the future of the HHH Metrodome?

aerial view of the HHH Metrodome and the Minneapolis skyline
No one can really say for sure, though many Minnesota Baseball and Football fans are hopeful that the Twin Cities sports mecca will remain untouched. The HHH Metrodome holds more memories for some Twin Cities natives than their grade schools do, the HHH Metrodome housed championship Minnesota Twins teams and Minnesota Vikings teams. Minnesota sporting greats, like Kerby Puckett called the HHH Metrodome home, and many sports fans are just not quite ready to let that go.

However, certain realities about the HHH Metrodome need to be faced, without the revenue of both the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings, changes will have to be made. It is not the most ideal football stadium and if the Vikings are going to continue to call the HHH Metrodome home, changes will have to be made.

My guess is BEST case scenario the HHH Metrodome will undergo MAJOR MAJOR changes in the upcoming Minnesota Vikings Seasons and the Vikings will continue to play home games at the Dome. More likely in my opinion is that the Dome will be torn down and the Vikings will play at TCF Bank Stadium for a few seasons while a new Vikings Stadium is built where the Dome was.

For now it is all speculation, but feel free to throw your 2 cents in too... I'd love to hear what other Dome Lovers are thinking!

Minnesota Twins vs. Cleveland Indians at the Metrodome this weekend

The sun is shining the air is hot and it is most definitely baseball weather. Its only Thursday but I can already smell the weekend backyard BBQ's and the lake calling my name. The other thing calling my name this weekend is the HHH Metrodome. The Minnesota Twins are going to start their second home series of the week at the Dome tomorrow with a three game series against the Clevland Indians.

The Twins face the Indians
Friday @ 7:10
Saturday @ 3:10
Sunday @ 1:10

With lots of heat and sunshine that won't quit, why not take a break from the summer weather and hit up the Metrodome and catch a baseball game before summer no longer is synonymous with Metrodome.

Celebrate the 4th at the Metrodome

If you call yourself a Twins fan at all then you know we have been on the road for the past 10 days... 10 good days, the Twins may even have even figured out how to play on the road.

However, like any good Twins fan you also know that Twins baseball just is not the same without a Domedog in hand and Circle me Bert. With that said, the Twins are returning to the Metrodome this weekend for a 4th of July weekend series against the Detroit Tigers, who have not had the best success on the road this season either, hopefully they continue to struggle on the road and the Metrodome Magic works for the Twins.

On a holiday that is all about American Pride, Red White and Blue Clothing, and American food it only seems fitting that we as Minnesotans do the patriotic thing and put on our Twins jerseys (color appropriate, naturally) and head out to the Metrodome to cheer our Twins on!

All is quiet at the Metrodome

With the Twins on the road for the rest of this week it has been pretty quiet at the Metrodome this week. The Twins will return home in early July for a 10 day run at home, with a game on July 4th against Detroit the Metrodome sounds like a great place to spend Independence day and how fitting to be wearing red, white and blue jerseys.

Other games coming up at the Metrodome are:
Fri June 27, Amateur Baseball
Fri July 3- Sun July 5, Twins vs. Detriot
Tues July 7- Thurs July 9, Twins vs. New York
Fri July 10- Sun July 12, Twins vs. Chicago

Minnesota Twins Metrodome Fans

The Minnesota Twins are in the middle of a 7 game HHH Metrodome home stand. So far, they are on a lose one, win one, lost one teeter totter. I haven’t had a chance to make it back to the Dome since opening night, but I have been watching on TV and it looks like there are quite a few empty blue chairs. I suppose families with school age children are shying away from evening trips to the Metrodome Minnepaolis until after school gets out.

If you ask me, now is the time to go to the game because Twins Ticket prices are so low. You can get Twins Tickets from Ticket King at BELOW face value – that’s cheaper than if you would buy them directly from the Twins themselves. I am sure Ticket King is just trying to liquidate less than popular games, so take advantage my budget cautious friends and take a trip over to the Dome and enjoy America’s favorite past-time - Baseball!

See ya at the Dome!

Minnesota Twins at the Metrodome

The HHH Metrodome is all about Minnesota Twins baseball! The Minnesota Twins are 2/3 of the way finished with a nine game home stand. For everyone that hates fractions, that means there are three games left before the team hits the road for a week and then a week break for the All-Star game. So if you want to be a part of Twins fever, buy your Minnesota Twins tickets today. Nothing is more American than celebrating Independence Day at the baseball diamond and with the Cleveland Indians in town you are guaranteed a great game.

As if you needed another reason to visit the HHH Metrodome this weekend, the Metrodome is running several fan promotions including a free giveaway every day. On July 4th, the first 5,000 kids will get a free Team Replica Autograph Bat (I think a red white and blue something would be more appropriate, but I don’t get to vote) and on Saturday, the first 5,000 fans will receive a Twins Territory Flag (a day late on the flag thing, but it’s free I shouldn’t complain). On Sunday the first 5,000 fans will receive a New Ballpark Hard Hat. How cool is that? Just another great reason to head out to the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome this weekend. Go Twins!

Need Twins tickets? Local ticket broker Ticket King has an office less than two blocks from the Metrodome that is open two hours before game time to purchase and pick-up tickets. They often have cheap Twins tickets so check there first!

Metrodome Jumbotron Messages

It’s always fun to see your own personal message on the Metrodome Jumbotron and requesting your own message for the Metrodome scoreboard is actually easy and fairly inexpensive. Scoreboard messages can be anything from a special birthday or anniversary message to a marriage proposal or a simple message to your favorite team or players. Requests for scoreboard messages during Vikings games should be made through Vikings Marketing at 952-828-6504. For messages during Minnesota Twins games call 612-375-7514 and for Metrodome scoreboard messages during Gopher Football games contact Deb Diamond at 612-625-4582. Perhaps we should wish the Gopher Football team a successful farewell season!

Metrodome gets a lot of use

Being the home of the Minnesota Twins, Golden Gopher Football Team and the Minnesota Vikings it is not unreasonable to think that the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome is a busy stadium and it’s true. There is something happening nearly every day at the Metrodome, the Dome is used about 300 days every year, but interestingly enough, of those 300 event days, fewer than 100 feature professional or major college sports. How about that for a Metrodome Fun Fact?!

Minnesota Twins and Metrdome host all you can eat

On Monday night, the Minnesota Twins offered the first ever all-you-can-eat Twins ticket. For an extra $12 and the purchase of your section 231 upper level ticket, you got a wristband that allowed you to fill up on your favorite Metrodome food. The promotion was huge and fans waited in long lines for the Metrodome hot dog, nacho, pretzel, popcorn and coke buffet. There were a few rules like you could only get two food items and one pop at one time, but people just kept getting in line for more. The Metrodome concourse was actually crowded on a Monday night Twins game so the promo must have worked!

Boston Red Sox at the Metrodome

Wow! The Metrodome was in full swing with the 2007 World Champion Boston Red Sox making a series stop here in the Twin Cities. Fans from all over the northern Midwest packed the Metrodome to watch a great homestand against the reigning Boston Red Sox. The ‘New Look’ Twins have continued doing what they do best; winning games with fundamental defense and a strong hitting lineup and so far, it’s worked for them. The Twins are 12-6 at the Metrodome Minneapolis this year, and stand at a .158 since the start of the season back on March 31, the earliest season opener in the Twins history.

Looking around at the Metrodome crowd this weekend, I was somewhat surprised to notice the absence of Red Sox jerseys and caps with the letter ‘B’ on them. Even though this Twins ball club has a lot of new faces, it’s still abundantly clear that Twins fans are loyal to their team. Usually, when a team wins the World title, they tend to attract a slue of fair-weather fans, but here in Minnesota, the Twins are synonymous with springtime, the only professional indoor baseball stadium in the country, and in my opinion, the best fans! See ya at the Dome!

Visit the Metrodome on Mothers Day

The Hubert H Humphrey will be full of Mothers in pink on Sunday, May 11th thanks to a Minnesota Twins promotion that gives the first 10,000 females (presumably mothers) a pink Minnesota Twins t-shirt. So grab your mom and head out to the Minnesota Twins vs Boston Red Sox game! The game starts at 7:05pm! Be sure to TiVo the game so you can look for you and your pink shirted mother in the crowd! Go Twins!

Minnesota Twins Schedule

The Minnesota Twins schedule really heats up in May for the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome. The Twins have 16 home games the month of May, more than any other month this Twins season. The Twins will host two premium series this month as well. First hosting the Boston Red Sox May 9th-12th and then welcoming the New York Yankees at the end of the month.

With all the continuous Twins action at the Metrodome, you can bet Twin Cities residents will be catching baseball fever! There are a lot of Internet sites to choose from when buying your Minnesota Twins Tickets – often local brokers have tickets at below face value near game time so check the sites the day of or the day before to get the best deal and get out to the Metrodome to see some Minnesota Twins baseball.

Local Twins Ticket Sites I have found on the Internet:

Metrodome Baseball

The Boys of Summer are back! The Metrodome has hosted 4 Minnesota Twins baseball series so far this year. The Twins came out strong in the opener whipping the Anaheim Angels, but the rest of the month the Twins have hovered around .500 even at home. Let’s hope the Twins can pick up the pace and gain some momentum and added Twins fan support or the Metrodome might become a lonely ballpark.

Metrodome Food Expansion

I was reading that during the Twins season, the Metrodome will offer a new fare, cookies and milk. YUM! I am a huge fan of cookies and milk and how Americana - it goes great with baseball. If I were the Minnesota Twins, I would do a baseball and apple pie night, too. Perhaps I am a bit of a foodie, but doesn’t that sound fun? Maybe I should pitch my idea to the St Paul Saints. I know the Saints regularly do fun theme nights to draw fans into Midway Stadium. The Twins should take notice.

For beer drinkers, Budweiser will offer an aluminum bottle, as contrasted to the plastic bottle, that reputedly chills to 22 degrees. I wonder how much that will go for?! I applaud the Metrodome and Minnesota Twins staff for not being static on the Twins Baseball experience. Innovation is key to fan happiness.

Minnesota Twins Territory

It won’t be long and the Hubert H Humphrey will be Twin Territory. The Minnesota Twins open their season in less than three weeks vs. the Anaheim Angels on Monday March 31st. The Twins Schedule is busy the first month of April at the Metrodome. The Twins play a total of 12 games in the month of April at the Metrodome and Twins fans won’t want to pass up the chance to see the new team under the white Teflon roof of the HHH Metrodome. The boys of summer will be back before you know it and the Metrodome will once again be filled with Minnesota sports fanatics! Go Twins!

Metrodome and the New Twins Ballpark

Despite the event list being sparse for the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome over the next month, the Metrodome still manages to make the news. For example, the Minnesota Twins have a really interesting comparison of their new Twins Ballpark vs. the Metrodome. Some of my favorite facts include:

New Ballpark vs (Metrodome)
-Total Seating: 42,000 (56,000) *will create higher ticket demand*
-Home Plate to First Row Spectator: 50 feet (58 feet) *fans will be closer to the game*
-Seats with Obstructed Views: 0 (1,392)
-Main Concourse width: 44 feet (20 feet) *more room to buy stuff and still see the game*
-Total Restrooms: 34 (16) *shorter lines*

The Metrodome is really suited more for Vikings football than anything else, but it will be sad to see the Minnesota Twins move. The Twins have made many great memories at the Metrodome including two World Series Championships. This Twins season should be a fun season as fans prepare to say good-bye to the “Homerdome.”

Metrodome TwinsFest Future

The Metrodome Minneapolis hosted over 30,000 people at the 2008 Twins Fest. There were over 30 Minnesota Twins Players in attendance and the event was a great opportunity for Minnesota Baseball fans to get autographs and hang out on the Metrodome field.

I am sure many Minnesota Twins fan is wondering what will happen to TwinsFest when the Twins open the new stadium 2010. It will be difficult to hold a fan festival in January in an open air stadium – brrrr! Do you suppose the Twins will still hold it at the HHH Metrodome? Will the Metrodome welcome them back with open arms? I am sure that is something both the Twins and Metrodome managers will have to mull over in the years to come.

Metrodome – Metrodome food!

Here’s a quick rundown of food choice at our beloved Metrodome (for Minnesota Twins games):

Best deal: $2.75 cup of fries. These are typical thick greasy “state fair” style fries, but at $2.75, they are probably the best thing you can get for your money (no guarantees they will still be that price for the 2008 Twins season).

Best item at the ice cream concession: Grand Slam Sundae all the way. The helmet sundae is boring and the root beer float is ok but it’s not Grand Slam-tastic!

Best hot dog: Dome Dog is still the champ. The dollar dogs are cheap but they just don’t compare to the thick juiciness of a Dome Dog.

Worst concession: The Dippin’ Dots knockoff packaged ice cream. Do not spend the six dollars or whatever it is on these terrible “treats.” The “dots” come out as one frozen block and they don’t have the soft yogurt texture of the original Dots.

Well there you go Minnesota Twins fans and Metrodome frequenters. Enjoy your Metrodome tickets and be vigilant with your concession choices.
