Twins All You Can Eat Ticket Seats Seem To Trump Recession Woes

Metrodome's famous Dome Dog and chips, my favorite Dome-Food Much of the news this summer has centered around the recession and how to save a penny or two. However, anyone who has been to the Metrodome on a Tuesday recently has noticed that despite having to spend a little more initially, the All-You-Can-Eat-Seats have been filled and Twins fans seem to feel that they are getting the better end of the stick.

In a recent article on the Associated Press, fans told a reporter that they were trying to beat the system. Twins fans liked that in an economy that seemed to be cutting back on just about everything the Metrodome was opening its concession stand doors and saying take as much as you want. One fan told the AP, "I just like the idea that, because food is so expensive, I can come and, like, stick it to the system," Retamal said. "You know what I mean? I feel like I can even things out a little bit, just like baseball evens everything out."

The Metrodome may be on to something, on All-You-Can-Eat Tuesday sections 232 and 233 are turned into the "special seats" where Twins Tickets go for $34 instead of $22 but Twins fans can eat an unlimited amount of hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, peanuts, pretzels, soda and water during a 3.5 hour span. The deal stops at 9:00 p.m. regardless of what inning the game is in and a Twins-Metrodome spokesperson said that because the deal doesn't included beer or waffle cones (two big ticket items for the dome) they are doing alright, but the deal he said is really about the fans, its great for them. With some quick mental math, it is true that even fans of a less hardy stock who can merely eat two hot dogs and a soda have paid for the difference and then some.

The Metrodome isn't the only field offering these grub-fest tickets, stadiums in San Diego, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh are following suit and giving fans a chance to eat the concession stand out of food, though most sports fans realistically eat a couple of hot dogs a soda and call it a day. Regardless of weather your goal is 30 hot-dogs or 3, it seems to this Metrodome lover that in a day and age where everything seems to be about bad financials, the Metrodome is giving back to its patrons and Twins fans are taking advantage.

The next all you can eat night is Tuesday July 28th against the White Sox

I was recently at the Metrodome and sat next to a guy who had sat in the "all-you-can-eat" seats, he told me he got 10 hot dogs and 6 orders of nachos in... then his face went a little green, the idea is interesting but clearly not for the faint of heart.

Any idea if HHH is going to offer other ticket/food/drink combo deals?
