Metrodome Tickets make Great Gifts

Need a gift idea for the sports fan in your life? How about Metrodome tickets – you could buy Minnesota Vikings tickets to the December 28th game vs. reigning Super Bowl Champions New York Giants or you could buy Minnesota Twins Baseball Tickets for a myriad of dates from April to September.

Do you have a motor head in your household? Buy Monster Jam Trucks tickets for January 17th at the Metrodome.

There is no doubt that Metrodome tickets would make a great gift this holiday season. If you are buying tickets from local companies like Ticket King, you can stop in at their office at 212 Chicago Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55415 (right by the Metrodome) and pick up tickets, saving shipping fees! They also have Metrodome Ticket gift certificates if you aren’t sure which event to pick.

Metrodome Purple Pride Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings have two more regular season games at the Metrodome Minneapolis and then *hopefully* a few playoff games. The Vikings are in control of their own destiny as they currently lead the NFC North Division by one game. If the Vikings win the remaining regular season games, they will successfully advance to the NFL playoffs. The Vikings need your help in packing the Metrodome with Purple Pride on:

Sunday December 21st at 3:15pm (new time!) when the Vikings host the Atlanta Falcons

Sunday December 28th at noon when the Vikings host the New York Giants

See ya at the Dome!

Twins ready for Final Metrodome Season

The Minnesota Twins are gearing up for their final season at the Metrodome. They have released their 2009 Twins season logo which includes a Metrodome graphic and the years 1982 and 2009 on the side banners representing the first year at the Dome and their last, respectively. The Minnesota Twins schedule is even out already if you want to buy Twins tickets for their final season at the Metrodome.

I like this quote from Twins Pitcher Glen Perkins:

"When you think of baseball in Minnesota, you think of the Metrodome, but at the same time, I think it's good we are getting a new stadium. I think it's really going to help up as a team to have that excitement. I'm looking forward to it."

I am sure Twins baseball fans are looking forward to it as well. I know the Twins will be planning special Metrodome events to commemorate the final Twins season at the Dome. I will keep you posted.

Gopher Football Ends Metrodome Era

The University of Minnesota Golden Gopher football team ended their Metrodome era last Saturday November 22nd with a season finale loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes. I think most Gopher fans are happy to put the Metrodome years behind them and are looking forward to a new season on campus at the brand new TCF Bank Stadium. Farewell, Gophers. The Metrodome and the surrounding businesses will miss you and your revenue.

Many Gopher memories have been made under that white Teflon roof.
Good Luck Gophers at TCF Bank Stadium!

More Football at Metrodome

'Tis the season for the Metrodome to be booming with football fans and activities. Last weekend was a Gopher Vikings double header (can you call it a double header even if it doesn’t occur on the same day? It was the same weekend.) This weekend both the Golden Gopher football team and the NFL Minnesota Vikings are on the road leaving the Metrodome Minneapolis available for the Minnesota State High School Football playoffs.

One of the people I work with is a huge High School sports fan and I know she is planning on heading over to the Dome this weekend to see as she puts it “the states best football players running around on the turf.” She also points out a that the Metrodome tickets are cheap and the football action will be intense. If you want to see the schedule of who’s playing, you can check out the Minnesota State High School League site for the Football Brackets. Enjoy the Football at the Dome while you can . . . the Metrodome days could be numbered.

Metrodome Update

Woah. It has been awhile since I have written in this Metrodome blog. I better get busy and get this blog up to speed. Right now, the Metrodome is busy getting ready for a big football weekend. Tomorrow the Metrodome will be the home field for the Golden Gophers football team as they host the Michigan Wolverines in the battle for the little brown jug. If the Gophers win, it will be huge!

Then on Sunday, the Metrodome is home to the purple and gold Minnesota Vikings as they host the biggest rivalry game of the season Green Bay Packers. Brad Childress has never beat the Green Bay Packers in his career as the Vikings head football coach so you can bet he is itching to get a win under his belt.

Either event will be a blast for Metrodome Patrons – so don’t just sit on the couch this weekend, head over to Minneapolis for some football!

Cheap Golden Gopher Football Tickets

The last gasp of summer is upon us and I found myself in a conundrum for my weekend plans. The Twins are out of town this weekend and theVikings are still a couple weeks out from their first regular season scheduled home game at the Metrodome. On top of the Minnesota teams being out of town for a while, and flying through money like it’s going out of style at the state fair, my kids have been bugging me to get tickets to some sort of game all week. So, I’m scouting around online and I find cheap Minnesota Golden Gopher football tickets on sale. That’s when I noticed that the Gopher Football season starts this Saturday at the metrodome versus Northern Illinois and the Gopher Tickets are super cheap! I actually found some tickets going for less than $10 per ticket!!

So, I called and luckily for me (and maybe you) I grabbed some of the $10 Golden Gopher Football Tickets. Ticket King had great prices on all Gopher Football Tickets, but I couldn't resist tickets to the Northern Illinois game for so cheap. Keep in mind, this is also the last season that the Minnesota Gophers are playing football at the Metrodome. Next year, they move to that fancy stadium (that went up overnight, it seems) and I’m sure the price of tickets will go up once they get over there. So this Saturday, not only do I get to be the hero to my kids and take them to a Gopher football game, but I get to keep my bank account in the green. Go Gophers!!

Metrodome Hosts All Teams

Over the next two weeks the Metrodome Minneapolis will host all three of its “home teams.” The Minnesota Twins will play the Oakland Athletics in a three game series that starts tonight and ends Wednesday. The Minnesota Vikings will play their third pre-season game on Saturday August 23rd vs the Pittsburgh Steelers and then the following Saturday the Golden Gophers Football team will take the field kicking off the 2008 Gopher football season vs. Northern Illinois. It will be the last time the Gopher football team will start a season at the Metrodome. There are still great tickets to all three events from local ticket brokers like Ticket King. Check out Metrodome tickets today!

Vikings Metrodome Future

There are still so many questions surrounding the future of the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome. The Gophers are gone after this season, the Twins in two seasons and that just leaves the stadium starved Minnesota Vikings to hold down the white teflon roof. Well, I read in the Tribune recently that “the developer who granted an option to the Minnesota Vikings and the Metrodome's owner for a block next door to the stadium has asked to extend that option deadline to 2012.”

Hmmm….Perhaps a new stadium on the site of the Metrodome is closer than we think. I am sure public funding will be a long battle, but if you know the Metrodome History, then you know that it was a battle as well. Be sure to visit the Dome soon and take plenty of pictures because the stadiums days are definitely numbered.

Minnesota Twins at the Metrodome

The HHH Metrodome is all about Minnesota Twins baseball! The Minnesota Twins are 2/3 of the way finished with a nine game home stand. For everyone that hates fractions, that means there are three games left before the team hits the road for a week and then a week break for the All-Star game. So if you want to be a part of Twins fever, buy your Minnesota Twins tickets today. Nothing is more American than celebrating Independence Day at the baseball diamond and with the Cleveland Indians in town you are guaranteed a great game.

As if you needed another reason to visit the HHH Metrodome this weekend, the Metrodome is running several fan promotions including a free giveaway every day. On July 4th, the first 5,000 kids will get a free Team Replica Autograph Bat (I think a red white and blue something would be more appropriate, but I don’t get to vote) and on Saturday, the first 5,000 fans will receive a Twins Territory Flag (a day late on the flag thing, but it’s free I shouldn’t complain). On Sunday the first 5,000 fans will receive a New Ballpark Hard Hat. How cool is that? Just another great reason to head out to the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome this weekend. Go Twins!

Need Twins tickets? Local ticket broker Ticket King has an office less than two blocks from the Metrodome that is open two hours before game time to purchase and pick-up tickets. They often have cheap Twins tickets so check there first!

Metrodome and Light Rail

One of my favorite things about the Twin Cities Light Rail system is it drops you off right in front of the Metrodome. It is so easy to park and ride and for people that hate downtown Minneapolis traffic, it is the best way to travel to and from Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Gopher Football games. The train does get crowded and you may have to stand, but the trip is short and it is often cheaper than parking downtown and with gas at $4 a gallon, it’s a bargain you can’t pass up. For more information about the Hiawatha Line and Twin Cities Light Rail, check out the Metro Transit website. If you have never rode the train before, make plans to ride it next time you head to the Metrodome, it is so easy!

Metrodome Jumbotron Messages

It’s always fun to see your own personal message on the Metrodome Jumbotron and requesting your own message for the Metrodome scoreboard is actually easy and fairly inexpensive. Scoreboard messages can be anything from a special birthday or anniversary message to a marriage proposal or a simple message to your favorite team or players. Requests for scoreboard messages during Vikings games should be made through Vikings Marketing at 952-828-6504. For messages during Minnesota Twins games call 612-375-7514 and for Metrodome scoreboard messages during Gopher Football games contact Deb Diamond at 612-625-4582. Perhaps we should wish the Gopher Football team a successful farewell season!

Metrodome gets a lot of use

Being the home of the Minnesota Twins, Golden Gopher Football Team and the Minnesota Vikings it is not unreasonable to think that the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome is a busy stadium and it’s true. There is something happening nearly every day at the Metrodome, the Dome is used about 300 days every year, but interestingly enough, of those 300 event days, fewer than 100 feature professional or major college sports. How about that for a Metrodome Fun Fact?!

Thankful for the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome

I read in a local sports column that the Minnesota Twins have played a half-dozen games in the Metrodome this season that would have been rainouts had they been played outdoors.
I am not looking forward to all of those rescheduled games when the Twins move to their new ballpark. I guess right now I can just say I am thankful for the HHH Metrodome.

Check out the Minnesota Twins schedule and make plans to get out (or rather in) to a game!

Minnesota Twins and Metrdome host all you can eat

On Monday night, the Minnesota Twins offered the first ever all-you-can-eat Twins ticket. For an extra $12 and the purchase of your section 231 upper level ticket, you got a wristband that allowed you to fill up on your favorite Metrodome food. The promotion was huge and fans waited in long lines for the Metrodome hot dog, nacho, pretzel, popcorn and coke buffet. There were a few rules like you could only get two food items and one pop at one time, but people just kept getting in line for more. The Metrodome concourse was actually crowded on a Monday night Twins game so the promo must have worked!

Boston Red Sox at the Metrodome

Wow! The Metrodome was in full swing with the 2007 World Champion Boston Red Sox making a series stop here in the Twin Cities. Fans from all over the northern Midwest packed the Metrodome to watch a great homestand against the reigning Boston Red Sox. The ‘New Look’ Twins have continued doing what they do best; winning games with fundamental defense and a strong hitting lineup and so far, it’s worked for them. The Twins are 12-6 at the Metrodome Minneapolis this year, and stand at a .158 since the start of the season back on March 31, the earliest season opener in the Twins history.

Looking around at the Metrodome crowd this weekend, I was somewhat surprised to notice the absence of Red Sox jerseys and caps with the letter ‘B’ on them. Even though this Twins ball club has a lot of new faces, it’s still abundantly clear that Twins fans are loyal to their team. Usually, when a team wins the World title, they tend to attract a slue of fair-weather fans, but here in Minnesota, the Twins are synonymous with springtime, the only professional indoor baseball stadium in the country, and in my opinion, the best fans! See ya at the Dome!

Visit the Metrodome on Mothers Day

The Hubert H Humphrey will be full of Mothers in pink on Sunday, May 11th thanks to a Minnesota Twins promotion that gives the first 10,000 females (presumably mothers) a pink Minnesota Twins t-shirt. So grab your mom and head out to the Minnesota Twins vs Boston Red Sox game! The game starts at 7:05pm! Be sure to TiVo the game so you can look for you and your pink shirted mother in the crowd! Go Twins!

Minnesota Twins Schedule

The Minnesota Twins schedule really heats up in May for the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome. The Twins have 16 home games the month of May, more than any other month this Twins season. The Twins will host two premium series this month as well. First hosting the Boston Red Sox May 9th-12th and then welcoming the New York Yankees at the end of the month.

With all the continuous Twins action at the Metrodome, you can bet Twin Cities residents will be catching baseball fever! There are a lot of Internet sites to choose from when buying your Minnesota Twins Tickets – often local brokers have tickets at below face value near game time so check the sites the day of or the day before to get the best deal and get out to the Metrodome to see some Minnesota Twins baseball.

Local Twins Ticket Sites I have found on the Internet:

Metrodome Baseball

The Boys of Summer are back! The Metrodome has hosted 4 Minnesota Twins baseball series so far this year. The Twins came out strong in the opener whipping the Anaheim Angels, but the rest of the month the Twins have hovered around .500 even at home. Let’s hope the Twins can pick up the pace and gain some momentum and added Twins fan support or the Metrodome might become a lonely ballpark.

Minnesota Vikings Schedule

The Minnesota Vikings Schedule has been released for the 2008 Vikings Season. Now, the Metrodome knows which days it will host the purple and gold. All of the Vikings regular season games are on Sundays this year and the Metrodome turf will have the opportunity to host plenty of star NFL talent including Peyton Manning with the Indianapolis Colts and Eli Manning with the New York Giants. With both of the Manning brothers coming to the Metrodome, this Metrodome fan is thinking “Brett, who?”

Metrodome Future

There is plenty of talk regarding the future of the HHH Metrodome. So much talk that it has even been a good question news story. The fact of the matter is that the Gopher Football team is out in 2009, the Twins leave in 2010 and the Minnesota Vikings lease expires in 2011.

The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission, which is the public agency in charge of the Metrodome, says the Dome can operate without the Gophers and Twins, but not without the Vikings. Ideally, the commission would like to work out a deal with the Minnesota Vikings to build a new stadium in the existing 22 acre Metrodome site. The infrastructure is already in place including parking options and light rail transportation options for fans. It would be nice to see the Minnesota Vikings remain in downtown Minneapolis and work out some sort of stadium deal for a “new metrodome” facility, but it may be a long road to reach an agreement. Then again, if you know the original Metrodome history, it was a long road as well.

Metrodome Twins Schedule Busy First Week

The Opening Week of MLB is a big deal for all baseball fans, but it is a really big deal for the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome as the Minnesota Twins host 7 straight games. First a four game series vs the Anaheim Angels and Torii Hunter and then a three day series against division rival Kansas City Royals. The Metrodome staff will have to be on their “A” game as they deal with the influx of people in and around the Metrodome. Personally, I love the fact that the boys of summer (although it looks more like winter) are back in Minnesota and playing at the HHH Metrodome.

I Love the Metrodome

For those of you lucky enough to have Minnesota Twins Tickets for opening night tomorrow, you should thank your lucky stars that the Minnesota Twins haven't moved out of the Metrodome yet. If you haven't seen tomorrow's forecast, the Twins Cities are supposed to get 5-6 inches of snow. That doesn't affect the Twins game tomorrow but it sure will affect a Minnesota Twins game in two years when they move out of the HHH Metrodome and into their new stadium. When you are sitting inside the dome and it is 70 degrees inside but only 25 degrees and snowing outside, please remember all of the benefits of the Dome. It might not be pretty, but tomorrow, it will be perfect.

Metrodome Food Expansion

I was reading that during the Twins season, the Metrodome will offer a new fare, cookies and milk. YUM! I am a huge fan of cookies and milk and how Americana - it goes great with baseball. If I were the Minnesota Twins, I would do a baseball and apple pie night, too. Perhaps I am a bit of a foodie, but doesn’t that sound fun? Maybe I should pitch my idea to the St Paul Saints. I know the Saints regularly do fun theme nights to draw fans into Midway Stadium. The Twins should take notice.

For beer drinkers, Budweiser will offer an aluminum bottle, as contrasted to the plastic bottle, that reputedly chills to 22 degrees. I wonder how much that will go for?! I applaud the Metrodome and Minnesota Twins staff for not being static on the Twins Baseball experience. Innovation is key to fan happiness.

Minnesota Twins Territory

It won’t be long and the Hubert H Humphrey will be Twin Territory. The Minnesota Twins open their season in less than three weeks vs. the Anaheim Angels on Monday March 31st. The Twins Schedule is busy the first month of April at the Metrodome. The Twins play a total of 12 games in the month of April at the Metrodome and Twins fans won’t want to pass up the chance to see the new team under the white Teflon roof of the HHH Metrodome. The boys of summer will be back before you know it and the Metrodome will once again be filled with Minnesota sports fanatics! Go Twins!

AMA Supercross at the Metrodome

I have to admit I don’t know a lot about Supercross, but I do know that it has a loyal crowd of fans and those fans will be flocking to the HHH Metrodome on Saturday March 15th. AMA Supercross has Monster Energy Drink as the title tour sponsor and some of the shows are even broadcast on Speed Channel on cable TV. It’s been four years since the Supercross series has been at the Metrodome so you can bet it will be a big deal. There are still good Metrodome tickets available, so get ready to ohh and ahh over the need for speed trick riders at the HHH Metrodome! Buy AMA Supercross tickets.

Minnesota Twins Tickets at Metrodome

I wrote on my twin cities tickets blog that Minnesota Twins tickets are super expensive for Opening Day! You can bet that the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome will be rocking on March 31st as the Minnesota Twins host the Los Angeles Angels. I love Opening Day - will see you at the dome!

Future of Minneapolis Metrodome

The future of the Minneapolis Metrodome has been a topic of discussion for about a decade, now. The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission (they run the dome) are trying to figure out what to do with the stadium after the Gopher Football team moves out next year and the Minnesota Twins move out the following year. The Minnesota Vikings will still remain for another year after that, but there is no doubt that they will continue pushing for a new stadium.

The people who run the dome conducted a survey of state residents and determined that 92% of Minnesotans want to keep the Vikings (duh!) and that 85% think Minnesota needs a stadium with a roof (too bad the Twins didn’t listen to that survey!) . Now, the commission is going to put together a new stadium package at a cost of $953 million (the HHH Metrodome only cost $55 million to build) and is going to start working on city leaders to raise taxes to pay for it. It will be an interesting next few years as the Metrodome future is determined once and for all. The current Metrodome was a hotly discussed project in the 70’s, you can bet it’s replacement will be as well!

Metrodome and the New Twins Ballpark

Despite the event list being sparse for the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome over the next month, the Metrodome still manages to make the news. For example, the Minnesota Twins have a really interesting comparison of their new Twins Ballpark vs. the Metrodome. Some of my favorite facts include:

New Ballpark vs (Metrodome)
-Total Seating: 42,000 (56,000) *will create higher ticket demand*
-Home Plate to First Row Spectator: 50 feet (58 feet) *fans will be closer to the game*
-Seats with Obstructed Views: 0 (1,392)
-Main Concourse width: 44 feet (20 feet) *more room to buy stuff and still see the game*
-Total Restrooms: 34 (16) *shorter lines*

The Metrodome is really suited more for Vikings football than anything else, but it will be sad to see the Minnesota Twins move. The Twins have made many great memories at the Metrodome including two World Series Championships. This Twins season should be a fun season as fans prepare to say good-bye to the “Homerdome.”

Metrodome Sports and Music

The Metrodome Minneapolis is a well known sports facility hosting the NFL Minnesota Vikings and the MLB Minnesota Twins and the University of Minnesota Golden Gopher football and baseball teams. One thing many Metrodome fans forget is that the Metrodome can host concerts as well. In fact, the HHH Metrodome has hosted more than a half-million people watching infamous shows from Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, George Strait, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Metallica and The Rolling Stones. The Metrodome hasn’t hosted a big name music act for quite some time. The Target Center Minneapolis and the Xcel Energy Center St Paul seem to scoop up all the big name acts first!

Metrodome TwinsFest Future

The Metrodome Minneapolis hosted over 30,000 people at the 2008 Twins Fest. There were over 30 Minnesota Twins Players in attendance and the event was a great opportunity for Minnesota Baseball fans to get autographs and hang out on the Metrodome field.

I am sure many Minnesota Twins fan is wondering what will happen to TwinsFest when the Twins open the new stadium 2010. It will be difficult to hold a fan festival in January in an open air stadium – brrrr! Do you suppose the Twins will still hold it at the HHH Metrodome? Will the Metrodome welcome them back with open arms? I am sure that is something both the Twins and Metrodome managers will have to mull over in the years to come.

Metrodome – Metrodome food!

Here’s a quick rundown of food choice at our beloved Metrodome (for Minnesota Twins games):

Best deal: $2.75 cup of fries. These are typical thick greasy “state fair” style fries, but at $2.75, they are probably the best thing you can get for your money (no guarantees they will still be that price for the 2008 Twins season).

Best item at the ice cream concession: Grand Slam Sundae all the way. The helmet sundae is boring and the root beer float is ok but it’s not Grand Slam-tastic!

Best hot dog: Dome Dog is still the champ. The dollar dogs are cheap but they just don’t compare to the thick juiciness of a Dome Dog.

Worst concession: The Dippin’ Dots knockoff packaged ice cream. Do not spend the six dollars or whatever it is on these terrible “treats.” The “dots” come out as one frozen block and they don’t have the soft yogurt texture of the original Dots.

Well there you go Minnesota Twins fans and Metrodome frequenters. Enjoy your Metrodome tickets and be vigilant with your concession choices.

Metrodome a better home for Vikings than the Gophers or Twins

With Minnesota Vikings new stadium talks stalling, it appears that the Metrodome Minneapolis will live!

Yes, many Vikings fans want to see the destruction of the HHH Metrodome and a new retractable roof behemoth erected in its place, but the Metrodome has housed so many great memories, maybe it would be better if it was left for the Minnesota Vikings to play in for the next decade or so. The Gopher football team is gone in 2009 and for good reason because they belong on campus. The Minnesota Twins are leaving for the other side of downtown Minneapolis, and I believe that is justified too because baseball should be outside. But out of those three teams, the Vikings belong the most in the Metrodome.

The Metrodome houses plenty of seating and ticket sales for Vikings games and it is a great place for the speedy Adrian Peterson to run wild, as he did against the San Diego Chargers when he broke the single game rushing record. Minnesota needs to build a new 35W bridge and the Central Corridor light rail before tearing down a perfectly functional (for the Vikings) Metrodome.

Minnesota Twins Tickets

I recently took a look at the upcoming Minnesota Twins Schedule and one game stood out as a "must see" game. The Minnesota Twins open their home schedule with a game on 3/31/2008 versus Torii Hunter and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. I am a big fan of home openers but couple the fact that it is a home opener with the return of Hunter and there is absolutely no shot that I will miss this game. In fact, I may actually splurge buy some fancy Twins Tickets for this game. I am very interested to see what type of reception Torii Hunter receives after his departure to the Angels. I am also excited to check out the new Minnesota Twins and what they can do. GO TWINS!!!
